ICC T20 WC 2024: Lockie Ferguson Made a World Record

Lockie Ferguson

In the current T20 World Cup match against Papua New Guinea, New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson accomplished the unthinkable in his four overs, conceding just one run while taking 3/0 to set a new world record in the T20 format. Saad Bin Zafar of Canada bowled an entire set of four overs in an international match against Panama in 2021 and was the only men’s bowler in history to do so without giving up a run.

He is the first player to have accomplished this feat at a T20 World Cup and the second in history overall.

The 33-year-old pacer tied up the new batter to begin his spell with a maiden in the powerplay after striking with the very first ball to remove Assad Valada, the captain of Papua New Guinea, for 6 (16).

Naturally, he was kept on to bowl the opening over following the powerplay, and he again kept things tight with a superb maiden.

In the twelfth over of the innings, he came back to the attack and removed Charles Amini, who was at 17 (25). In the fourteenth over, he claimed his third wicket-maiden, dismissing Chad Soper for just 6 runs.
